Orthopaedics is the medical/surgical specialty dealing with the muscular and skeletal systems. This includes care for all the major parts of the body. Whether the injury or pain occurred as a result of sports, work-related injury or arthritis, the orthopaedic surgeon would ultimately treat these conditions.

Early treatment requires a diagnosis, using a history and physical, x-ray, MRI, and other studies. Once made, a protective healing program is established. As healing progresses, protective motion is initiated. As function is re-acquired the patient is guided through progressive increases in activity.

Casts, splints, physical therapy, injections and, as a last resort, surgery, are all tools used judiciously. The ultimate goal being a restoration of your full level of pain-free enjoyable activities. This is accomplished with the minimum of invasive tests and procedures.
